Wrapping Up Your Year – Stress Free!

Relaxing cup of coffee or tea

Especially as the year comes to a close, the holiday parties are in full swing, multiple concerts are performed/attended, and travel to family and friends ramps up; our stress levels (good and bad) can really take a toll on our energy levels and mood.  Here are some tips to help remain in ease and flow during this stressful time.

1)      Find a good energy management technique to start off your day.  Meditation, journaling or simply sitting down and outlining your day (including how you would like to feel about your day) is a great way to generate some positive energy to build on.  Oh, and the FREE “Tapping Into the Spotlight” video series is an energy management technique!  Check it out here!

2)      Decide on the top 3 goals for your week.  Overwhelm and stress often set in when we aren’t sure what to do first, or the list seems too daunting.  Just pick three doable tasks you’d like to accomplish as a start, and if you have time for more – great!  But focus on a small list to stay stress free.  This has worked wonders for me!

3)      It’s okay to say no.  Being able to prioritize well doesn’t mean you have to fit absolutely everything onto your schedule.  Give yourself a break and say no to things that will drain your energy too much or that go against your intentions for how you want to feel during the holidays.  It can feel uncomfortable to say no, especially if you are someone who gets a lot of satisfaction out of accomplishing a long list of tasks and staying busy (like me).  But it can also be liberating!

4)      Schedule in Time OFF.  Seriously.  You deserve it and you need it in order to really be productive the rest of the time.  Treat it like an appointment and stick to it.  You’ll be glad you did!

5)      Take care of yourself.  Only you know what you can do to make yourself feel better – maybe it’s more sleep, less fast food, a good walk at lunch, drinking more water.  Just pick one small thing and make a commitment to it for this month.  Even a small change for the better can help reduce your stress!
